Cottage Garden
The Cottage Garden is an informal garden designed to represent the gardens that would have been found near the thatched roof cottages of English craftsman or artisans. It is filled with annuals, biennials, perennials, bulbs and herbs that grow amongst each other creating a colorful experience. This garden has many tried and true gardening favorites. It is in bloom all season long.
Throughout the spring and summer, look for black eyed susans (Rudbekia fulgida), joe-pye weed (Eupatorium maculatum 'Gateway') and shasta daisies (Leucanthemum x superbum), lavender (Lanvandula), daylilies (Hemerocallis), speedwell (Veronica), Phlox (Phlox maculata and paniculata) and roses.
In the Cottage Garden there is a stone wall that separates it from the Green Garden. This wall is covered with climbing hydrangeas (Hydrangea anomala subsp. petiolaris) that bloom in the spring. The walkways are brick and stone. Set into the stone path there are four charming garden beds. |
