The Gardens
Art in the Garden

The arts are a very important component of TBG’s interwoven three-part mission.  The gardens themselves are art coaxed from nature.  But beyond the horticultural artistry, enriching life through the arts means that we utilize our resources to champion the arts and artists in our region, as well as to engage visitors in the arts throughout our grounds and programs.  Many of TBG’s endeavors that support the arts in our community are made possible by grants from the Ohio Arts Council.  Toledo Botanical Garden serves as a canvas, a stage, and an inspiration.

Sculpture
The sculptures that are found in the individual gardens and also as grand features of the landscape are made possible through a partnership with the Arts Commission of Greater Toledo through its Art in Public Places program, individual artists and donations from private collectors.  Some sculptures are permanent installations and others rotate to provide new experiences for visitors.

Events
The annual Crosby Festival of the Arts exposes over 20,000 visitors to a variety of high-caliber fine art.  The Festival also supports the arts community on a local and national level by providing a scene for over 240 fine artists to display and sell their work.  Events such as Jazz in the Garden and Noon Tunes, as well as the many musicians and performers that enhance other events, engage visitors in the performing arts at a unique and remarkable venue.

Education and Exploration
There are plenty of opportunities for visitors to get in touch with their “inner artist” during events such as First Sunday Open Art Days and the Fall Festival, and through the many art classes and workshops that are offered through the year for adults and children, particularly in our new Art Abilities Studio.

Resident Organizations
TBG provides a home to many art groups in the Artists Village including the Blair Museum of Lithophanes, as well as art galleries and studios for pottery, glass blowing, photography, stained glass and other exhibit spaces.
